Empire: Total War was the seventh main installment in the Total War franchise. It was released on Windows in 2009 and Mac OSX in 2012. The game is set in the 1700s.

GameplayEdit

As with the other entries into the series, the game is divided into two distinct parts: the campaign map, an overview of the world where the player run their selected faction, including building projects, recruitment, and directing troop movements. The battle map is where most combat takes place -- multiple players, or players and AI, take control over armies involved in the fight.

CampaignEdit

The Main Campaign of Empire: Total War has 4 parts. There is also a Grand Campaign option that allows you to play as a country of your choice.

Part 1Edit

Part 1 is the landing and settling of the Jamestown Colonists. As the colonists, you fight the Powhatan Nation to establish safety for Jamestown.

Part 2Edit

Part 2 is the French and Indian War. You play as the Thirteen Colonies. Your goal is to take Montreal and Quebec. Once that is done, part 3 is over.

Part 3Edit

Part 3 is the American Revolution. You play as the American Patriots. You start at the Battle of Bunker Hill. You have 1 province, New England, and you must liberate all of the 13 colonies, from Maine to Georgia.

Part 4Edit

In part 4, you take control of the newly established country, the United States. You start in the year 1783. Once you complete the campaign objectives, you complete the main campaign and you unlock the United States as a nation to play in the Grand Campaign.

BattlesEdit

Battles are very different in Empire: Total War compared to other TW games, due to the addition of firearms and also that artillery has unlimited ammo. Units have range and reloading abilities, the former was included with archers in previous games, but the latter is brand new. This, combined with the new technology tree make the game very different from older titles in the franchise.
